WE HAVE A 5-STAR RATING ON TRIPADVISOR - AND WE WORK HARD TO KEEP IT THAT WAY!

WE WANTED TO SHARE SOME OF THE NICE THINGS THAT OUR FRIENDS HAVE SAID ABOUT US

We recently visited Cusco and did three tours through Kusa Treks. The first two were while we acclimated - a city tour of Cusco and the tour of Maras and Moray (salt pools, terraced ag and women’s weaving collaborative). These two tours were so interesting! We then did the four day Lares Valley/Inca Trail trek. The team that made this happen was incredible - Erik, Michael and Megan were very responsive during the planning portion and the trek itself was challenging (wow altitude), but the geography of the Lares Valley is stunning and of course the Inca Trail and Machu Picchu were beautiful too. Combining these two gave us the best of both worlds. The food that Chef Juan Carlos and Angel were able to cook while camping was amazing. Our entire trekking team made the experience great. More

If you are thinking about taking a trip to Peru to do the Inka Trail and see Machu Picchu you must choose Kusa Treks. Why you may ask?...……..Because they were absolutely super. We laughed and had so much fun as they were part of our family immediately. They made us feel comfortable and at home. We did the 4 day 28 mile hike and it was a bear of a hike. But I would say it was in the top 3 experiences in my life. I just loved it. The views were so beautiful at every turn in the mountains. Kusa Treks took care of everything. The food was absolutely delicious at every meal as breakfast, lunch, and dinner were prepared by our chef, Fernando ,and our Sui Chef, Santos. They made every meal fun and engaging. They were really into it. Not one person in our group got sick! This was also great as we worried about this but the food was perfect. And we ate everything! We also had great porters with our head porter Walter! They worked so hard and were just so nice. They too were family. Our guide was Aldo! Aldo was just perfect. He was so knowledgeable about everything from the Inkas to the mountains, to the plants! His English was great and he loved to converse with us about anything. He really made the trip what it was. The owner Erik was so great in organizing us and keeping us in the know. He even picked us up at the airport so from minute one we were taken care of. We were so taken care of! So if you are thinking about the Inka trail you must choose Kusa Treks. I would give them a 10 out of 10 in every area.

Kusa Treks operates like the "wizard behind the scenes", making all the aspects of your trip seamless. I can't say enough good things about Eric and his company, Kusa Treks. They took care of EVERY detail! From airport pick up to transfers, hotels, meals, etc. I definitely feel like they were looking out for us, (first great impression was made when I wasn't able to make my connecting flight to meet up with the rest of my group. The company reached out to me to make sure I was okay, and advise me. This was days before our trek was even to begin!). Once the trek was started I was beyond impressed by the team of porters, chefs, horsemen. These men cannot get enough credit and respect. Look no further! Also, that this company is local...it helps to their economy tremendously. Don't go with a remote company, that is not as invested in the country you want to immerse yourself in. Let me systematically give kudos: Aldo, our city day tour guide. What a complete sweetheart, and extremely knowledgable! His warmth was palpable. So genuine, and a great introduction to the history and people of his culture. Juan Carlos and Angel, the chefs for our trek. I am still floored over their talents and capabilities. Some of the best meals of my life, produced under camping conditions? Real stick to your ribs nourishment, that stays true to their culture. My... Let me systematically give kudos:

Aldo, our city day tour guide.

My mind is still boggled. They were so flexible with different meal preference, gracious. I also wanted to add that these two swooped in and helped me at one point, when I had a temporary moment of struggle at the end of the (Lares) trek, as we rounded a (very short) path chiseled into a steep cliffside. Quick disclaimer: I've never met anyone with a more acute fear of steep drop offs, than me. I'd say I'm in the top 1% as far as height phobias, so even though it bothered me, huge chances it wouldn't be a problem for most people.). These two circled back, offered to take my backpack and hold my hand. They even walked on the edge as I plastered myself across the wall (hey, I have no shame lol). They wanted to show me it was okay, and they were there to protect me. Even though we didn't speak the same language, their kindness and altruism spoke volumes. I will forever be grateful to these two men, especially, and hope that they know how much it meant. They are true gems for their company.

Francisco, the ever-smiling horseman. Such a positive, capable man, from the first to the last. He was the first team member we met on our way to the trailhead, and our trek guide told us that he "ALWAYS has a smile on his face." Absolutely true! He also was so kind in letting me pet his team of mules. We didn't speak the same language, but it wasn't needed.

I also like how these men offered up left overs to some of the remote villagers we came across on the trek, and the dogs. Their kindness was truly humbling. (On that note; if you are able to, to bring some toys/stickers etc for the children you will inevitably meet on the trail. They were so happy to receive these! Oh, and perhaps treats for the friendly dogs that seem to know the trek routine as well. I wish I could have taken them all home with me, including the team, lol).

If you book one of these treks, I hope you are fortunate enough to get these men I mentioned. Heck, request them, lol! I'm sure everyone Kusa Treks hires are more than capable, but I know these men are exceptional. They worked as an incredible team, making everything seamless, comfortable for our group. Every detail thought of with such ease and proficiency. We definitely felt pampered and looked out for. What a luxury, even when you are out in the elements, in the middle of nowhere, in a foreign country, lol! More

We absolutely loved everything about our trip. Kusa Treks is the best! Every detail we could think of was taken care of for us, both from home and in Peru. We loved both of our guides, Aldo and Felipe, they were both friendly and personable. Also, all of our drivers were great! Kusa Treks let us pick our own travel dates which resulted in my husband and I having our own private tour! We will definitely tell our friends how wonderful it was.

We had a thoroughly great time. We wouldn’t change anything. Our guides were terrific. We loved the private van. The hotel In Cusco, Rumi Punku was everything we had hoped for. They were so accommodating. We loved the guides. Felipe was so much fun. We loved the the short hike to Machu Picchu. The trip to Colca canyon was also very fun and memorable. Irene was such a kind and considerate person. Chivay was fun. We loved the room at Casa Andina there. We were also taken out to dinner and heard a nice local performance. We literally saw dozens of condors in flight the next day. We loved getting to know both of our guides. We felt like we treated wonderfully by them and your drivers. Truly a great trip. More

We had an amazing short trek on the Inca trail to Machu Picchu. Our guide was patient and very knowledgeable. The food provided on the trail was healthy, high quality and more than enough. The briefing the day prior was helpful without being overwhelming.
They were punctual and took care of everything! Tickets, train, etc.
The best part is arriving at Machu Picchu towards the end of the day and seeing the sunset and then coming back and seeing the sunrise the following morning, avoided the lines with the "libre" entry ticket. highly recommended.

I have to be honest...I was going to give a 4 star review but realized the only reason I would be doing that is my own fault. I highly recommend this company. The food on the trek was phenomenal. Better than I make at home. Juan Carlos, angel and Walter were amazing! Our guide...Juan Pablo was so knowledgeable and really showed a sense of pride in everything he did. I was super caught off guard on how difficult it would be to climb and descend with the high altitude. I am in good shape...but come from the Low country...so the attitude and rocky descents were a bit frustrating...but certainly not their fault. I felt safe at all times with Juan Pablo. Transfers were easy for the most part. Thank you to Kusa.
